Feliway® is a synthetic copy of the feline facial pheromone, used by cats to mark their territory as safe and secure.
When a cat feels safe and comfortable in its environment, it rubs its head against the furniture, the corners of walls or the bottom of the curtains, leaving a substance called the facial pheromone. This pheromone is specific to cats and conveys a message of security and reassurance.
By mimicking the cat’s natural facial pheromones, Feliway® creates a state of familiarity and security in the cat's local environment.
As a result, Feliway® can be used to help comfort and reassure cats, while they cope with a challenging situation and/or help prevent or reduce the stress caused to a cat during a change in their environment.
The development of Feliway® created a new field in veterinary medicine: Pheromonatherapy.
Feliway® is available in 2 forms: as a spray and an electric diffuser.
- On-the-go (travel): spray directly on bedding, inside the carrier, or in the car 15 minutes before
- At home: spray once daily on the areas where your cat is spraying or scratching (E.g sofa, chair, door frames or doors)
- Never spray directly onto your cat
- Never spray in the carrier if the cat is inside the carrier
- Always wait 15 minutes after spraying before letting the cat in
- Do not spray on the scratching post, it would prevent your cat from using it
- Spray 8 to 10 pumps for every application
- The effect will last 4 to 5 hours.
- Each cat might react slightly differently
